Team UK 2010
Before the Street Nationals last October we announced that we would send a team from the National Crew division to represent UK at the Cheerleading World Championships in Orlando this April.
That was subject to ICU approving our application and a team reaching a high enough standard to compete at the highest level.
It was quickly obvious that teams were certainly good enough. All we had to do was decide which routine would best fit in ICU's Hip Hop category…and hope ICU gave us a sought after place. The news finally came that we had a place not only in ICU but IASF as well. ICU is for countries, IASF for the best clubs in the world.
Next the tricky selection - congratulations IndepenDANCE! I broke the news to coach Jenny Gittins on the day their junior team appeared on Blue Peter as a result of their efforts at our Nationals. Quite a day for them & I'm sure you will all join me in wishing them well at Disneyland. Keep looking in to see reports of their progress here and at the new UKCA website (going live this Wednesday!). Hopefully we will also be telling you of how you can be there in 2011 soon.
The full Team UK line up is:
- Senior All Female Cheer: it could only be the double bronze winners from Team UK 2009 and once again our National Champions - Rising Stars
- Senior Cheer Dance: again we turned to our National Champions and experienced international campaigners - Red Hot Flames. In a bold move Flames have invited 3 of archrivals Rising Stars dancers to join them in Orlando.
- Senior All Female Group Stunt: a new category for us this year but we are sure our National Champions STCA will not let us down.
- Hip Hop: After reviewing performances at our Street Cheer Nationals we have invited IndepenDance to represent us.
There will be a chance to see the routines that will be performed in Orlando at our Nationals on 20 & 21 March - even more reason to be at the Velodrome.

Beware-Street Cheer Copycats!!
|
|
As Street Cheer is growing so rapidly, which is fab, there is lots of interest surrounding Street Cheer, and as a result we have encountered a few copycat Street Cheer events, courses and workshop type sessions.
These events/sessions are not run by ourselves and we cannot ensure the quality, safety or insurance at these events. Therefore we advise you to be wary of any such events not:
a) run by UKCA
b) endorsed by UKCA
And please please check credentials of any events/courses using our name. We want you guys to keep developing as coaches but not via dodgy training.
